

The
United Group plays a key role in supporting our business and our
community through active memberships in various trade organizations
and philanthropic endeavors.

These
words of our Chairman, Mr. A. Raymond Tye inspires everyone here
at United to help those who are less fortunate.
The United Group has and will continue to give generously to various
charities and community organizations in need of assistance. Our
company and senior executives personally contributed nearly $1
million last year to various causes. In addition United employees
donated hundreds of hours of their time to help others.
The United Group as a company as well as our senior executives
as individuals, contribute significant time and money to a broad
array of worthy causes including, The Dana Farber Cancer Institute,
Community Servings, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, The Fenway
Community Health Center, The Pan Mass Challenge and The Ray Tye
Medical Aid Foundation, just to name a few.
The
Ray Tye Medical Aid foundation was founded in 2002 to commemorate
the 80th Birthday of A. Raymond Tye and to honor his lifelong
commitment to making life easier for his fellow man.
The mission of The Ray Tye Medical Aid foundation is to facilitate
access to medical treatments for financially vulnerable individuals
in our society, assuring equal access to specialized, life saving
medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation to
all.
Most
recently, the foundation was able to aid a little girl from Ecuador
who had a heart problem, but is now on her way back home to live
a normal life as a result of help from The Ray Tye Medical Aid
Foundation.
As
an industry partner we will do our best and work together to address
industry related issues from both a legislative and socially responsible
viewpoint as well as “continuing to always come to the aid
of our fellow man”
The
United Group is pro-active in several trade associations including
WSWA, National Beer Wholesalers of America, WAABI, and MASS PACK.
Through our memberships, United has been a leader in facilitating
communications as they relate to industry issues regarding social
responsibility, legislation and training.
The United Group representation in all of these trade organizations
adds efficiency and effectiveness to all of the trade events for
these organizations held in our local market and around the country.
The
Wine and Sprits Wholesalers of America, Inc. is the national trade
organization representing the wholesale branch of the wine and
spirits industry. There are currently 450 members in the organization
spanning 42 states.
United’s
leadership is an active participant in WSWA. Mr. A. Raymond Tye,
Chairman of The United Group sits on the Board of WSWA, along
with Dave Roberts, Vice Chairman and CEO of the United Group and
James Tye, The United Group Executive VP. Both Mr. Tye and Mr.
Roberts are past presidents of WSWA.
The
World Association Of The Alcoholic Beverage Industries is a national
volunteer network composed of men and women from all tiers and
segments of the alcohol beverage industry. WAABI assists the industry
by reaching their local communities with information on industry
programs relating to combating alcohol abuse and other socially
responsible issues. Each year WAABI members donate over 100,000
hours of community service towards local improvement programs.
United
is a member of WAABI and supporter of WAABI’s adopted charity
the Sky Ranch for Boys, which serves and helps homeless, troubled,
and delinquent youths from all parts of America.
The
Massachusetts Package Stores Association with the Purpose of considering
Legislation, Better Business Practices, and Social Responsibility
as it relates to Massachusetts Alcohol Retailers. Mass Pack conducts
extensive training seminars throughout the Commonwealth in an
effort to educate retailers with the necessary tools to deter
falsified identification and other legal issues. Mass Pack also
holds an annual trade show where over 500 key retailers are present.
As an associate member, The United Group is an active participant
in all aspects of Mass Pack whether it’s training, legislation,
better business practices or the tradeshow.
